Honest Expectations
At CB Ink, we believe in honest expectations and clear guidance. Cover-up tattoos are always a risk, and while our artists work to the best of their ability, we cannot guarantee the exact outcome of the finished piece. Tattooing over an existing tattoo will not produce the same results as working on fresh skin.
Only black ink can cover black ink, which often means your new tattoo will need to be larger and darker than the original, and only certain designs will allow for a successful cover-up. Even with expert work, parts of the existing tattoo may still remain visible.
Because of this, we highly recommend getting a few laser tattoo removal sessions first, as fading the original tattoo allows for the best results and provides more options for what can successfully cover the piece.

Will the existing tattoo still be seen underneath the cover-up?
While our artists will always do their best to ensure the original tattoo is covered completely, sometimes the existing tattoo can still be somewhat seen underneath. Our artists will always advise if this may be the case, and suggest either laser removal or a different design.
